The following items are just some of those available to view and touch at the Interfaith Centre.

 

Deity Box

Contents: three hand-carved wooden Deities - Ganesh, Krishna and Hanuman (approximately 15cm); one string of wooden prayer beads.

 

Diversity Game

Key Stage 3 and 4 activity.

 

Diwali Box

Contents: twelve handmade traditional clay divas; roll of cotton wool to make your wicks; sample wicks; one bottle of vegetable diva oil; four Diwali greeting cards; six jars of powdered Rangoli chalks.

 

Faith Symbols Stamps

Key Stage 1 activity set.

 

Holi Kit

Contents: one Holi pichkari (water squirter); six jars of coloured powdered chalk for throwing; two greeting cards.

 

Ram Darbar

A brass Ram Darbar depicting Lakshman, Rama, Sita and Hanuman. (Approx. 12cm); Displayed at home and in the temple during Diwali.

 

Religions Of The World DVD Box Set

Sir Ben Kingsley narrates this programme that looks at both the similarities and differences between the world's major religions.

 

Music CDs

A set of three CDs which include Hindu folk music, sacred music sung in the temple, and music and songs from the Ramayana.

 

Prayer Shawl

A traditional orange and red Hindu prayer shawl inscribed with the words "Hari Krishna, Hari Rama".

 

Puja Box and Tray (as shown below)

Contents: one Puja tray; one joss stick holder; one bell; one tilak dish; one offering dish; one water pot; one spoon; one divaMade of stainless steel.

The Puja tray holds the offerings and objects used for Puja. Puja is a daily worship conducted either at home or in a temple.

 

Religious Symbol (as shown left)

This is the Hindu symbol. It is called Om or Aum. This is the word for god.
